In unserem neuen ChemElectroChem Artikel zeigen wir am Beispiel von 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural wie einzelne funktionelle Gruppen organischer Moleküle die Reaktivität beeinflussen. Die Anwesenheit eines Furanrings in einem Molekül steigert die Reaktivität von Aldehyd und Alkoholoxidationen, indem der Ring die Adsorptionsstärke erhöht. Die Aktivität von Alkoholen und Aldehyden bleibt jedoch durch einen Furanring unbeeinflusst.
